Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres has blasted critics of his move to the club.
He recently insisted that he never disrespected Sporting CP before signing for the Gunners.
Speaking to the press, Gyokeres revealed that most of his critics simply have no idea what they are talking about.
According to him, while he cannot elaborate on details of his long absence during the transfer saga, the extended break mainly happened due to the lengthy negotiations.
Confirming that he will not try to prove anything to his critics, he stated that it is simply impossible to please everyone.
“There are a lot of people out there who have strong opinions about things they don’t really know.
Everyone’s entitled to an opinion, but it’s impossible to please everyone. I don’t feel I need to prove anything to people who have no insight into what actually happened,” he said.
Gyokeres further noted that waiting a long time to seal his Arsenal transfer was very tough, but he is happy it was sorted in the end.
He concluded by saying that it is a shame how things ended with Sporting CP.
“It was tough. We waited a long time at one point, but I’m happy it was finalised in time and I got to be part of the pre-season.
Of course it was a shame how it ended, but that’s how it went this time. Sometimes life is like that.
I was in negotiations and the holiday was extended because of that. I don’t want to go into details about why I didn’t come back,” he added.
