The Aliko Dangote Foundation recently launched a large-scale distribution of rice in Anambra and Nasarawa states, providing much-needed relief to vulnerable populations. In Anambra, the foundation distributed 10,000 bags of 10 kg rice to various communities, with representatives emphasizing the importance of the gesture.
“We are distributing 10,000 bags of 10 kg rice today, thanks to the generosity of Aliko Dangote,” said representatives from Anambra. “The rice is being distributed according to local governments and will be further allocated to the 181 communities in the state through JDPC Awka. We are grateful for this support and aim to ensure all communities receive their share.”
In Nasarawa State, the foundation’s efforts were equally impactful. The Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. ABDULLAHI Sule highlighted the foundation’s discreet yet significant contributions to society. “You see, the Dangote foundation since it was established has actually achieved so many goals unnoticed because the Dangote foundation is not known for making so much noise about their contribution to society.” He noted.
Hon. Itake Elayo, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Humanitarian Services & NGOs in Nasarawa state also appreciated the foundation. “The state have already embarked on the distribution of the palliative right after the fuel subsidy removal so we decided to do it differently because it’s coming from a foundation the Aliko Dangote foundation.”
Applauding the compliance of beneficiaries, she noted; “To be honest with you, to my shock, I saw some of the pictures, some of them were even backed to come out because I insisted on having to see some of these people on the ground.”
In Obi Local Government Area, 2,000 bags of rice were distributed, with each of the 100 beneficiaries receiving two bags. “We are going house-to-house to deliver to those unable to come due to health conditions or disabilities,” a representative added.
The initiative, which spans all 774 local government areas in Nigeria, aims to distribute a total of 1 million bags of rice. The Aliko Dangote Foundation’s focus on food security and assistance during difficult times has been well-received, with numerous beneficiaries expressing gratitude for the timely support.
