Nigeria has commemorated the 50th anniversary of its diplomatic relations with Mexico, highlighting five decades of a stable, productive, and forward-looking partnership.
The Federal Government noted that since relations were established on April 14, 1976, both countries have continued to strengthen ties built on mutual respect, shared interests, and growing cooperation across key sectors.
In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria and Mexico were praised for sustaining consistent high-level diplomatic engagement over the years.

Both nations have also worked closely at the United Nations, collaborating on global priorities such as peace, security, and sustainable development.
According to the statement, bilateral relations have expanded significantly in areas including trade, energy, agriculture, education, and cultural exchange, with increasing focus on economic diplomacy and private sector participation.
It further revealed that Nigeria and Mexico are exploring new opportunities in renewable energy and industrial development to deepen economic cooperation.
Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the partnership, expressing confidence that the relationship will continue to yield greater mutual benefits in the years ahead.
