The Lagos State Government has encouraged the 2024 Batch C Stream II Corps Members deployed to the State to embrace good values and acquire valuable skills in order to achieve success.

The message was conveyed by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu during the Swearing-in Ceremony of Batch C Stream II at the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja on Friday.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, emphasized the importance of inculcating good values and developing new skills not only during their service year but also as they transition into their professional lives after the National Youth Service Corps program.

In his words, “This three-week orientation programme is specifically designed for you to imbibe core values such as discipline, tolerance, perseverance and time consciousness. Although these values are primarily meant to guide your conduct during the orientation course, they will be of great benefit to you beyond the service year.”

The Governor also encouraged Corps Members to take advantage of networking, mentorship, and entrepreneurial programs under the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development initiative.

By participating in these opportunities, they can work towards self-sufficiency and financial independence during and after their service year.

NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, echoed the importance of utilizing the orientation period to absorb national culture, values, and essential skills such as emotional intelligence and leadership.

She noted that the various activities, lectures, and training sessions would provide ample opportunities to develop these competencies.

In her address, Mrs. Salmwang expressed gratitude to the State Governor for his continued support and commitment to the NYSC scheme. She pledged to maintain the strong partnership with the Lagos State Government to drive progressive economic development.

At the event, the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Honourable Justice Kazeem Alogba, represented by Honourable Justice Mosunmola Muyubat Balogun administered the oath to the 2024 Batch C Stream II Corps Members.

The swearing-in ceremony included a total of 2162 male and 3154 female participants, marking the start of their journey as dedicated contributors to national unity, integration, and development in Lagos State.
