Lagos Pastor Handover Man To Police For Stealing Food Items

An angry Pastor of the Gospel Apostolic Church, Ijegun area of Lagos State, has handed over a 32-year old man, Asimi Ibrahim, to the Police for allegedly sneaking into the church premises and stealing food items brought from the market for the family.

It was reported that the suspect, Ibrahim, allegedly sneaked into the church located at Sanyaolu Olubambi Street, Prince bus stop in Ijegun, stole the items and tried to escape before he was eventually caught.

Angered by his conduct, the Pastor handed him over to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division and he was detained at the station for interrogation.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he actually stole the items, which he wanted to cook before he was arrested as he was hungry and needed food.

He was said to have as well confessed to have stolen a laptop, bag, N30,000 cash among other missing items and told the Police that he cannot replaced the items because he had no money to do so.

The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.

However, he pleaded guilty.

Thus, the prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for facts and sentence since he admitted and pleaded guilty to enable him to present the facts of the matter so that the Court will sentence him accordingly.

The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will be sentenced accordingly since he pleaded guilty.

The matter was adjourned till 25th October, 2024, for facts and sentence.
