PDP Announces N40m Nomination Form for Anambra Governorship Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed the cost of its expression of interest and nomination forms at N5 million and N35 million, respectively, bringing the total cost for aspiring candidates to N40 million.

The PDP officially recognized Sunday Ude-Okoye as its National Secretary and announced the timetable and costs associated with its nomination and expression of interest forms for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election on November 8.

In a letter to Anambra State Chairman Chidi Chidebe, the PDP stated that the sale of forms would commence on February 24 and close on March 5.

The party primary is set for April 5, with the appeal process taking place on April 8.

The letter, signed by National Organizing Secretary Umar Bature, detailed the schedule and activities approved by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) for the election.

Copies were also sent to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Acting National Chairman Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, and other key party officials.

PDP governors and the BoT had previously demanded that Ude-Okoye be sworn in as National Secretary, in compliance with the Appeal Court judgment that removed Senator Samuel Anyanwu from the position.

It would be recalled that the NWC has earlier unanimously approved Ude-Okoye’s recognition as the party’s National Secretary.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court refused to grant Anyanwu a stay of execution and instead agreed to an accelerated hearing of his appeal before it.
