The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited Plateau State in response to the deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, where several residents were killed.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, from the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
On arrival, the IGP met with Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and extended condolences to the government and people of the state before proceeding to the affected community for an assessment.
Police say a coordinated response was immediately launched, involving DIG Usman Nadada, AIG Francis Iwu, and multiple tactical units deployed in collaboration with the military.
According to the IGP, sustained security operations have helped stabilise the area, while intelligence-led efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest those behind the attack.
He cautioned against any form of retaliation, warning that reprisals could further inflame tensions and undermine peacebuilding efforts.
Governor Mutfwang praised the swift intervention of the police, particularly CP Bassey Ewah, and called for stronger security reforms, including state policing and enhanced surveillance systems.
