Lagos ready to airlift second batch of 2024 pilgrims

The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board says the second batch of the 2024 intending pilgrims will be airlifted to the Holy Lands of Israel and Jordan on February 7.

This is contained in a statement signed by the board’s public relations officer, Adeola Olagoke, on Wednesday in Lagos.

The statement also quoted the board secretary, Florence Gbafe, as saying that 150 intending pilgrims had been properly screened and ready for the pilgrimage.

Ms Gbafe charged the pilgrims to conduct themselves as good ambassadors of God and Lagos state.

She emphasised the importance of being physically and spiritually fit for the journey.

The statement also quoted Rev. Bukola Adeleke, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Christian religious matters, as saying that the pilgrims must be medically and physically fit for the trip.

Ms Adeleke stressed the importance of intending pilgrims being medically and physically fit and having necessary travel documents and verifiable medical history.

“The Lagos State Government will always prioritise the safe return of all pilgrims and provide necessary welfare supports for the journey,” she said.

The first batch of 2024 pilgrims had earlier embarked on the pilgrimage exercise from December 22, 2024, and returned on January 1, 2025.
