The Nigeria Police Force has debunked a viral video claiming a terrorist attack in the Federal Capital Territory, describing it as false, misleading, and intended to cause unnecessary panic.
Speaking from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer, DSP Anthony Okoh Placid, clarified that the footage was fabricated using unrelated online clips, falsely presented as a live security incident.
According to the Police, preliminary investigations revealed that the content was deliberately manipulated to misinform the public and disrupt peace within the FCT.
Authorities confirmed the arrest of one Pam Joseph, who is alleged to have created and circulated the viral video. Digital forensic analysis and intelligence tracking reportedly traced the origin and dissemination of the content to the suspect.
The Police cautioned Nigerians against sharing unverified security information, warning that the spread of false alerts can threaten public safety and national stability.
The Force also reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring digital platforms and taking firm action against individuals responsible for spreading fake or inciting content.
