The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has ordered an immediate investigation into reports of alleged extortion involving some of its personnel along the Lagos–Seme border corridor, condemning the actions as unacceptable and a clear violation of its code of conduct.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has directed a thorough probe to determine the circumstances surrounding the incidents and ensure that any officer found culpable is held accountable.
As part of immediate administrative measures, Comptrollers overseeing the affected Commands have been temporarily relieved of their duties pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Service reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability, assuring the public that it will not condone any misconduct capable of eroding trust at the nation’s entry and exit points.
