The Special Adviser to Ekiti State Governor on Security, Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Ogundana (rtd), has reaffirmed Ekiti State Government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of all citizens and residents of the state.
Security of lives
Gen. Ogundana made this assurance and highlighted recent enhancements to the state’s security infrastructure during last week’s Ekiti Loni/Ekiti Today programme.
While acknowledging that security challenges are global, Gen. Ogundana emphasised the state’s proactive measures, including stricter regulation of motorcyclists. He also noted the administration’s strategic collaboration between conventional security forces— such as the Nigerian Army, Police, and the DSS— and non-state actors like Ekiti State Peace Corps, Amotekun Corps, and Agro Marshals. This synergy has strengthened joint patrols across the state, especially in farm settlements, forest reserves, free areas, and border communities.
The Special Adviser noted that the government’s focus on agriculture, agribusiness, and investment is matched by robust security efforts in key agricultural hubs, and the state has deployed adequate security personnel to the agricultural hubs in the northern part of the state as well as the new agricultural settlements in Ikere and Emure.
Also speaking on the programme, the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun reaffirmed the State Government’s dedication to its core responsibility of securing lives and property. He emphasised that the current administration has activated a multi-layered security architecture involving the army, police, DSS, paramilitary forces, and internal security agencies at the state, local government, and community levels to ensure effective security and intelligence gathering across the entire state.
The Commissioner assured all law-abiding citizens and residents of their safety, stressing that there is no hiding place for criminals in Ekiti State. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and consistently provide relevant information to security agencies about the activities of suspicious persons and criminal elements.
