LASCOHET Matriculates Over 800 Students

The Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET) in Yaba welcomed over 800 students into various programs for the 2024/2025 academic session, encouraging them to focus on excellence and discipline throughout their education.

During the 25th matriculation ceremony held on Thursday, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mr. Adeniran Kasali, who was represented by Mr. Yakub Abdulfatai Olayemi stressed the significance of academic excellence in today’s educational landscape.

Emphasizing the importance of discipline and self-development, Kasali urged students to look beyond the classroom and seek opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge.

He also highlighted the Lagos State Government’s commitment to youth development through the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, which prioritizes education, technology, and innovation.

Furthermore, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Olusegun Ogboye, spoke on the critical role of health professionals in society and emphasized the need for students to remain dedicated to their studies.

Dr. Olusegun Ogboye, represented by Dr. Mazeedat Erinosho, urged the newly matriculated students at the Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET) to make the most of the college’s state-of-the-art laboratories, experienced faculty, and globally relevant curriculum.

He emphasized that discipline is a key trait of every successful professional, encouraging students to uphold integrity, professionalism, and compassion.

Provost of LASCOHET, Professor Raheem Olasupo Akewushola, congratulated the students on their successful entrance exams and advised them to stay focused on their studies, completing assignments diligently.

He underlined the importance of academic discipline in professional integrity and emphasized the college’s strict policies against examination malpractice, cultism, and inappropriate attire.

He also expressed gratitude to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his unwavering support and significant investments in the Institution. “These contributions”, he noted, “have positioned LASCOHET as a leading College of Health in Nigeria”.

The matriculation ceremony, attended by Staff, Parents, and other stakeholders, officially inducted the new students into various Health programmes offered by the College.
