Mr. Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), has expressed disappointment over the stalled Atlantic Refinery project in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
In an effort to revitalize the project, Lokpobiri has promised to evaluate and address the issues that have impeded its completion.
During an inspection visit to Ewa-ama Road, which connects to the Brass Petroleum Products Terminal (BPPT), the Minister engaged with local community leaders and key stakeholders to discuss the project’s future.
He reassured them of the federal government’s dedication to finishing critical infrastructure projects that foster economic growth and enhance the well-being of residents.
“The federal government remains committed to completing critical infrastructure projects that drive economic growth and improve livelihoods. This project will be thoroughly reviewed to ensure its eventual completion,” he pledged.
Despite the challenges caused by the refinery’s abandonment, Lokpobiri commended the people of Brass for maintaining peace.
He encouraged them to continue fostering harmony, underscoring the significance of community support in driving progress and development.
“Stability is crucial for attracting further investments and development to the region,” he emphasised.
Reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to delivering on key development projects, Mr Lokpobiri reiterated that the government remains dedicated to advancing initiatives that will benefit the Niger Delta.
The Minister was accompanied on the visit by Mr Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), as part of efforts to assess and fast-track key projects in the region.
