Nigeria’s First Private Aeronautic University, ‘IBUAM’ Gets Presidential Approval

In a historic move for aviation education in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has granted approval for the country’s first private aeronautic university, the Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM).

The announcement was made by Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, following a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday, March 3, 2025.

IBUAM, founded by Comrade Isaac Balami, was among the ten universities approved during the State House session, resulting in widespread jubilation, particularly among young Nigerians who have benefited from Balami’s generosity.

The approval had been pending for four years prior to this momentous decision.

Balami, also the founder of 7Star Global Hangar and Airlines, described the presidential nod as a significant leap forward for Nigeria’s aviation industry.

“I am happy to be the progenitor of such a lofty idea that not only aims at global aviation prominence but also focuses on producing the next crop of credible Nigerian leaders,” he said.

Beyond the establishment of the IBUAM , Balami continues to demonstrate his dedication to advancing aviation education through the Isaac Balami Foundation.

The foundation currently supports the training of 160 young Nigerians in various aviation disciplines.

Emphasizing his love for Nigeria and commitment to its progress, Balami’s efforts are widely recognized as crucial contributions to the nation’s aviation sector.

With the approval of IBUAM, Nigeria is poised to become a significant player in aeronautical education, potentially transforming the country into an aviation hub for Africa.
