According to Daily Trust Report, suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has reportedly moved to the Bayelsa State Government House alongside his family. This relocation follows the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, a direct consequence of escalating political turmoil and power struggles within the region.
The suspension is the latest chapter in the ongoing feud between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, which has resulted in violent clashes, governance paralysis, and legal battles, further destabilizing the political environment in Rivers State.
As a result of the unrest, sources close to the situation revealed that Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri extended his support to Fubara and his family during this challenging period.
The Bayelsa State Government House is now hosting the suspended governor and his family members.
The relocation took place early on Wednesday morning when Fubara and his family departed the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt. Although the security presence around the building has been scaled back, a few Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and a small security team remain stationed on the grounds, ensuring minimal disruption.
Inside the Rivers State Government House, sources noted that the environment was notably quiet, with only a handful of security operatives still present. The shift in leadership and security dynamics in Rivers State marks a significant moment in the unfolding political crisis.
In an attempt to manage the situation, President Tinubu has appointed Admiral Ibokette Ibas, the former Chief of Naval Staff, as the administrator for Rivers State. Ibas will oversee the state’s administration during the six-month emergency period, with the primary goal of resolving the ongoing conflict between the governor and the lawmakers.
As the state enters this period of uncertainty, all eyes remain on the efforts to restore political order and address the deepening crisis in Rivers State.
