Music legend Ebenezer Obey debunks social media rumours of his death in a vibrant video performance.
Sings in Yoruba, English, and Pidgin to assert he is alive, well, and full of life.
Personal assistant confirms Obey recently attended a family celebration and is in good health.
Legendary musician Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi has dismissed rumours of his death, affirming that he is alive, strong, and healthy.
In a video posted on Tuesday morning, Obey-Fabiyi countered the false claim with a spirited musical performance.
Singing in Yoruba, English, and Pidgin, he declared the news to be untrue.
He sang, “Hello, my name is Professor Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi.
Satan, you don lose o, Satan, you don lose o, you don pafuka. Na lie lie you dey talk, you don pafuka.”
Obey-Fabiyi further added, “It is fake news that started a few hours ago claiming that I, Evangelist Obey, have passed on to glory. It is a lie. I am alive, and that is not the word Jesus has written.”
The rumour, which went viral on Monday, triggered mourning messages from fans.
However, his personal assistant, Tope Olukole, promptly debunked the claim in a Monday evening interview with TVC.
“Let’s set the record straight: Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi is alive and thriving! He recently celebrated a joyous occasion — the 50th birthday of his second child’s spouse,” Olukole said.
“Rumours of his passing are baseless and entirely unfounded. We’re glad to see him active and well,” he added.
The false report surfaced less than a month after Obey-Fabiyi marked his 83rd birthday.
