The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
This was announced by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued Tuesday night and signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo praised Nigerian workers for their resilience, hard work, and unwavering commitment to national development. He emphasized that their contribution remains vital to Nigeria’s industrialisation, economic advancement, and global recognition.
He further called on workers across the country to adopt a spirit of innovation, efficiency, and productivity, which he described as critical elements for sustainable growth and improved governance.
“There is dignity in labour. The dedication and commitment to the work we do are essential for building a stronger nation,” the minister stated.
While felicitating with Nigerian workers, Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to remain hopeful and supportive of the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He reassured the public of the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians and foreigners residing in the country.
“The Tinubu administration remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and ensure peace, which are prerequisites for attracting investments, enhancing productivity, and achieving national progress,” the minister added.
