Real Madrid Losing Against PSG Was A Good Result – Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has said that the club’s rebuild will take time.

This is coming after the club’s 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup on Wednesday.

Speaking to the press, Alonso revealed that the match was already tough for his players after the 10th minute because PSG played very good football.

According to him, it’ll take at least 2 years before his plan for the team begins to show, and while last night’s defeat hurts, it is present pain for future gain.

He stated that conceding 2 goals put a lot of pressure on his players, and Real Madrid couldn’t recover.

“The start of the match was very important. We had a good opponent, and it got really tough after the 10th minute. PSG is playing well. It’s a two-year project, and we’ve only been here a short time. We have to work, calmly, but it obviously hurts.

The two goals put a lot more pressure on you. They force you to keep up. You know you can’t get off balance. They’re at a good level, we saw that today. We have a lot to learn from today,” he said.

He further noted that the result is actually good for the Spanish club, stressing that it shows that Real Madrid has to improve as a team.

Alonso concluded by saying that the players finally have the opportunity to rest their legs after an exhausting season.

“Today’s results are good for us, showing us how much we still have to improve. PSG is doing things well, and we still have things to do. We’re in a competitive environment, practically without training. Now we need a break, but we’ll be back in four weeks,” he added.
