Euro 2024: Hosts Germany book Q-final ticket, beat Denmark 2-0

Germany reached their first quarter-finals in four attempts at a major tournament, thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala, securing a 2-0 victory over Denmark in a storm-delayed and controversial match in Dortmund.

Meteorologists had warned of severe weather in the Ruhr region ahead of the Saturday night encounter at Signal Iduna Park. As a precaution, referee Michael Oliver suspended play for 20 minutes during the first half.

Before the suspension, Germany had a goal disallowed when Nico Schlotterbeck’s header was ruled out due to Andreas Skov Olsen being illegally blocked by Joshua Kimmich.

Denmark’s Rasmus Hojlund missed two good chances late in the first half, but the game’s major controversy involved Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen within a span of two minutes.
