Ikeja Disco Gets Fresh 23 Band A Feeders, Expands To 179

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company has increased its Band A feeders to a total of 179, following the addition of 23 new ones.

This expansion follows the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s approval of the Multi-Year Tariff Order (MYTO) for these new feeders.

Kingsley Okotie, Head of Corporate Communication at IKEDC disclosed in a statement, stating the approval came after NERC reviewed the company’s capacity to provide 20 hours of electricity daily.

Band A customers, who are premium users exempt from government electricity subsidies, currently pay over N200 per kilowatt-hour, compared to the subsidized rate of N68, and are guaranteed a minimum of 20 hours of electricity per day.

Additionally, IKEDC has issued a warning to customers to remove unauthorized assets from its electricity poles across its six business units.

The company cited safety concerns and violations related to the misuse of poles by individuals and corporate entities for both private and commercial purposes.

“It is imperative to state that these acts not only portend great danger to the perpetrators and members of the public but also inhibit our operations, which ultimately affects the quality of service to our esteemed customers.

“To this end, our team of technicians will commence the removal of unauthorised assets on our poles across the six business units as well as explore available extant laws guiding the use of these facilities, with a bid to prosecute errant offenders to serve as a deterrent to others,” the IKEDC warned.
