Manchester United have been told they made a £120m ($159m) mistake when they failed to buy Harry Kane.
Former manager Ron Atkinson revealed that MUFC currently need a striker to make up for its past errors.
Speaking during an interview with the press, he shared that Manchester United should have done everything possible to sign Kane before he joined Bayern Munich.
According to him, a lot of MUFC’s problems could’ve been resolved by signing a top-class striker in recent years, and failure to bring in the right centre forward has cost them a lot.
“What would I do if I were in charge there? Well, they could have resolved a lot of stuff by signing a decent striker. They paper over so many cracks. I’d have got Harry Kane,” he said.
He further noted that even though the Tottenham chairman would’ve wanted a lot of money for Kane, it would’ve been money well spent.
Ron concluded by saying that having a goalscorer like Kane up front would’ve been a game changer for Manchester United.
“I know they say [Spurs chairman Daniel] Levy wanted £100m for him. OK, so pay £120m. With him up front, the midfield would have known who to pass to, the defence would have played better. Goalscorers make everything better,” he added.
