Veteran Nollywood actress, Ayo Mogaji, revealed she became a mother at 40 with just one fallopian tube.
During a podcast hosted by Nollywood actress Abiola Adebayo, Mogaji shared her experience of having her baby six weeks after her 40th birthday, despite having one fallopian tube due to a ruptured ectopic pregnancy during her first pregnancy.
She recounted the ordeal, saying her fallopian tube was ruptured when the ectopic pregnancy was evacuated to save her life. An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, typically in a fallopian tube, leading to a tubal pregnancy.
Mogaji revealed that some of her colleagues cried bitterly when the doctor said she might not survive the operation, which lasted seven to nine hours. The ectopic pregnancy had ruptured her appendix, requiring the removal of one fallopian tube. Despite this, she later had her child naturally with her remaining fallopian tube.
Reflecting on her love life, Mogaji mentioned that she fell in love and got married, but her partner was abusive for the 13 years they were married. She shared that her ex-husband physically abused her, making it impossible for her to stay at home without a third party present.
Mogaji advised women not to endure abusive marriages, stating, “When matrimony leads you to a place where you can’t have your own friends, the family can’t come, and you face abusive language, physical abuse, and mental torture, it’s best to get out of that marriage.”
She also stated that there is no possibility of reconciling with her ex-husband, as she endured the abuse for 13 years, hoping for change that never came.
