The Older I Get, The Keener I Am To Learn New Things – Idris Elba

Hollywood actor Idris Elba has opened up about the harsh realities of ageing.

The moviestar recently revealed that he just found out that our bodies begin to fail us when we clock 50.

During a recent appearance on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast, Idris shared that he does not like the fact that the body starts to show signs of weakness when humans grow enough to clock ages that should be synonymous with wellness and consciousness.

He stated that he regularly squats as a form of exercise because his acting career requires the use of his body on a consistent basis.

“I don’t love that, at this age, the age of wellness and consciousness, it is so upon us, yet our bodies fail us,” he said.

Admitting that even simple tasks like walking can get tricky after a certain age, Poehler agreed that people in their 50s can sometimes get hurt simply by getting out of bed.

Elba disclosed that his knees definitely feel the pain that comes with squatting, stressing that while getting down is quite easy, getting back up is a different challenge altogether.

“Your knees can handle that?” the host asked.

“No,” Elba quickly responded.

The Hollywood star, however, noted that he is no longer scared of the difficult things that once made him weary.

He stressed that the older he gets, the more eager he is to want to learn something new.

53-year-old Amy Poehler concluded by saying that age has increased her wisdom, and she no longer finds herself following the crowd.

“In my 30s and 40s, I was sort of blown with the wind, In the 50s, I’m like, ‘Nah. That wind has to pass around me.’ I’m not getting as easily influenced,” she added.
