Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, joined top government officials, security chiefs, former Inspectors-General of Police, and other dignitaries to honour the courage and dedication of police personnel.

The Nigeria Police Force wrapped up the 2026 National Police Day celebration with an impressive parade at Eagle Square, Abuja, showcasing discipline, unity, and operational strength.

The parade featured officers from across the Force, alongside other key security agencies such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), highlighting growing inter-agency cooperation in maintaining national security.
In his remarks, the Vice President praised the resilience and commitment of officers, reaffirming the Federal Government’s resolve to strengthen police reforms, improve operational capacity, and prioritise the welfare of personnel.
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, described the occasion as both reflective and forward-looking—honouring fallen heroes while reinforcing the Force’s commitment to professionalism, discipline, and service to Nigerians.
He emphasised ongoing efforts to transition towards intelligence-driven and community-based policing, aimed at building public trust and enhancing the credibility of law enforcement institutions across the country.
Activities marking the celebration also included walkathons, medical outreaches, community service programmes, and welfare support for families of fallen officers, further strengthening ties between the police and the communities they serve.
The event drew attendance from lawmakers, former police chiefs, members of the diplomatic corps, and private
sector leaders, demonstrating widespread support for the ongoing reform and modernisation of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Force reiterated its commitment to accountable, professional, and people-oriented policing as it continues to adapt to Nigeria’s evolving security landscape.
