….. Education Dist V holds Ramadan Lecture
The supervising Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Lagos Education District V, Mrs. Adekanye Anike has said that the Lagos State government is committed to all round preparation of young people for a successful future.
Adekanye made this known during the 18th Annual Edition of Ramadan lecture themed Sustaining the Gains of Ramadan Thereafter, held at Awori Ajeromi Hall, Agboju area of Lagos.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Anike Adekanye, urged everyone to show more commitment to the service of God.
“Let us commit ourselves more to God’s work during Ramadan”
“Islam is a religion of peace that teaches us good things during and after Ramadan”
She commended the students for their dedication to study which them to win some competitions.
“We are not only focusing on the academic performance of students in Lagos State, but we also commit them to God, as we train them spiritually, physically, socially amongst others”.
“Our students are so grateful to Mr Governor and other stakeholders in the education sector in Lagos State and as you can see – things are getting better in Lagos State Education District V.”
“Just recently, the students from this district won a million naira during a recent competition.”
Adekanye charges everyone to be doers of the teaching by the guest speakers.
“We should assimilate what our speakers are teaching us with all humility, Let’s love one another”
She praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu , Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education for providing an enabling environment for teaching and learning in Lagos State.
According to the two guest speakers, Comrade Babatunde Abdullahi and COMRADE Monsur Olugbade, who spoke extensively on ‘The Significance of Ramadan to Muslims’ and How to navigate the current economic crisis without compromising the Islamic Faith.
Comrade Babatunde Abdullahi said Allah will not change the condition of the people until they change what’s in their minds.
He noted that for the societal transformation to take place, we shouldn’t allow any form of padding in our endeavours, as students, parents and leaders.
There’s a need for mindset reorientation if we want things to turn around for good.
He stressed that Nigeria is blessed with human and mineral resources, but, wickedness will not allow us to attain our full potential as a country.
He urged everyone to retrace their steps back to God for intervention.
Part of the activities of the event was Quran recitation by the students.
After the citation contest, Abdulkareem of Awori Senior Grammar School, emerged in first position; while Abba Abdullahi from Bola Ige Senior School, and Yusuf Saheed from Cardoso Junior High School emerged 2nd and 3rd separately.
