Late Justice Emmanuel Nri Ezedi Rose Above Sentiment To Reverse My Impeachment – Peter Obi

Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has come out to hail late Justice Emmanuel Nri Ezedi.

He recently described him as a role model in the legal profession who was one of the finest jurists of his generation.

Reacting via his social media handle, Obi wrote that the late judge rose above sentiments to quash his impeachment by the state House of Assembly when he was governor.

According to him, despite having no personal acquaintance with him at the time, the deceased bravely fought against external pressure to ensure justice prevailed amid calls for his sack.

He stated that Emmanuel Nri’s judgment was simply a reaffirmation of justice that gave hope to the country’s judicial system.

“I remember vividly the period of my impeachment. At that critical moment, even without any personal acquaintance with me, Justice Nri Ezedi courageously rose above sentiment and external pressure.

His judgement was not only of law over arbitrariness, but also a reaffirmation of justice in its purest form,” he wrote.

Representing the African Democratic Congress, ADC, the national chairman of the party, Senator David Mark, attended the burial of Justice Emmanuel Nri Ezedi.

Obi, as well as the governor of the state, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, legal luminaries and politicians from within and outside the country, were present at the burial service presided over by the Archbishop on the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim at St James Church, Nri, Anaocha local government area.
