Zacch Adedeji, the chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has been honoured with the award for fiscal reforms and innovation at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS).
NEAPS is an annual event that recognises excellence in leadership, service, or humanitarianism.
Adedeji was recognised for his impact on fiscal reforms and innovation within the FIRS.
The organisers of the award said the FIRS boss is the brain behind the emergency economic intervention bill (EEIB) recently presented to the national assembly.
The bill aims to fix urgent tax issues, make it easier to collect revenue and help stabilise the country’s economy amid inflation and currency challenges.
Speaking about the recognition, Adedeji said the award is a testament to his dutiful service to Nigeria.
“I have received many awards in the past, but I am particularly elated about this award. I see it as a good reflection of the work we have put into the service of our dear nation,” he said.
“It will spur me to continue to deliver more by supporting President Tinubu to revamp the economy and bring prosperity to the good people of Nigeria.
“I want to thank the organizers, particularly the office of the secretary to the government of the federation, for considering me for this honour.”
