Labour Party backs Tinubu, rules out Peter Obi’s return

The National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, has stated that the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will not be making a return.
Speaking during an interview on News Central on Thursday, Arabambi dismissed ongoing efforts by some stakeholders to bring Obi back into the party.
According to him, the party’s leadership has already taken a firm decision on its political direction following internal crises and consultations involving key figures, including the Abure-led leadership and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.

Arabambi revealed that the party is now aligned with supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
He also alleged that former Minister Nenadi Usman is pushing for Obi’s return but insisted such a move will not succeed.
In his words, the party is focused on rebuilding and repositioning itself, noting that past challenges particularly during the 2023 elections—have shaped its current stance.
Arabambi further ruled out any possibility of Peter Obi contesting future elections under the Labour Party, stressing that the party is moving forward with a new strategy.
