A new cross-cultural feature film, On Different Grounds, is set to captivate audiences with a unique blend of Nigerian, Ghanaian and Indian traditions, bringing together talents from Nollywood, Gollywood and Bollywood in a landmark cinematic collaboration.

The romantic comedy-drama tells the story of a wealthy divorced couple, Eyimofe and Isioma Fregene, whose long-standing differences are put aside when they are forced to reunite to organize the wedding of their daughter, Aurora. As preparations for the grand ceremony gather momentum, unresolved family tensions, buried secrets and lingering emotions begin to resurface, threatening to derail the joyous occasion.

At the heart of the film is a celebration of cultural diversity and family values, as the storyline seamlessly weaves together Nigerian, Ghanaian and Indian customs. Through the lens of a wedding, the movie explores themes of love, reconciliation, forgiveness and unity, while highlighting the richness of multicultural relationships.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mildred Okwo and produced by Nicolette Ndigwe-Kalu under the banner of HB&Q Impressions, On Different Grounds is being hailed as one of the most significant recent collaborations between African and Indian film industries.

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring some of the biggest names in African cinema, including Bob-Manuel Udokwu, Jennifer Eliogu, Nkem Owoh, Uche Jombo, Uche Montana, Ifeanyi Kalu and Ebele Okaro. They are joined by Ghanaian actress Abena Akuaba and Indian actors Vineet Raina and Nimesh Diliprai, further underscoring the project’s international appeal. Reality television personality and actress Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, popularly known as Bambam, also stars in the production.

Shot primarily in Lagos, Nigeria, the film incorporates visual and cultural elements from the three participating countries. With a reported production budget of approximately ₦476.6 million, the project represents a major investment in cross-border storytelling and creative exchange.

The film is scheduled for nationwide cinema release across Nigeria on June 12, 2026.

Industry stakeholders believe On Different Grounds marks another important step in the growing collaboration between African and Asian film industries.
