FG Declares Friday, 29th March And Monday, 1st April 2024 As Public Holiday

The Federal Government has announced that Friday, 29th March and Monday, 1st April 2024 will be observed public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, conveyed this declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, encouraging Christians and all Nigerians to reflect on the sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ in his redemption of humanity.

In addition to its religious significance, the Minister highlighted that Easter promotes values such as love, forgiveness, and compassion, which are crucial for fostering social cohesion and harmony in society.

He emphasized the importance of Christians embracing these virtues, as they have the potential to positively impact Nigeria’s socio-economic development by promoting unity, reducing conflicts, and encouraging cooperation among citizens.

The Minister also urged Nigerians to demonstrate acts of charity and generosity towards the less, aligning with the Renewed Agenda of the President.

As Easter approaches he extended warm wishes for a joyful and peaceful celebration to Christians both within the country and abroad, while also calling on all Nigerians to collaborate with the current administration in its efforts to achieve sustainable development and for all.
