“Collecting Transport Fare Without Showing Up Is A Crime” – Nigeria Police Force Warns Women

Nigeria Police Force has warned young women against collecting transport fare from men without honoring meet-up agreements.

NPF recently revealed that not showing up after receiving transport money constitutes a criminal offence that is punishable by law.

Speaking via a clip shared on her Facebook page, Police Spokesperson in Rivers State, Grace Iringe-Koko, revealed that such a practice can be classified as “obtaining money under false pretence.”

“Why would you collect a transport fare from a man without going to see him? It is an offence,” she said.

Revealing that the convicted offenders could face up to three years in prison, Grace emphasised that the act is punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code, which frowns against collecting cash without honouring the agreement it was sent for.

She concluded by urging women to avoid a dishonest lifestyle, stressing that while the act might seem harmless to some, it could attract serious legal consequences.
