Late Peter Rufai Made Africa Proud For Many Years – CAF President

The President of the Confédération Africaine de Football, Dr Patrice Motsepe, has come out to mourn the death of the late Nigerian legendary goalkeeper, Peter Rufai.

Motsepe recently paid an emotional tribute on behalf of all 54 CAF Member Associations, and Nigerians have been reacting.

Speaking via a press statement by CAF’s Communication Department, he revealed that Peter Rufai was part of a unique generation of African footballers who made the continent proud for many years.

According to him, the brilliant goalkeeper was a very talented footballer who earned a lot of respect among his peers due to his dedication and tenacity in every match.

He stated that CAF’s thoughts and prayers are with the Nigeria Football Federation and the Super Eagles after the loss of a memorable legend.

“Peter Rufai is part of a special generation of African Football players who made the people of Nigeria and the entire African Continent very proud.

He was an enormously talented footballer and was respected in Africa and globally.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, the Nigeria Football Federation (“NFF”) and its President Ibrahim Gusau, his former teammates, and the people of Nigeria,” he wrote.

Motsepe further noted that Peter Rufai will live eternally in our hearts, stressing that the legacy the sporting icon left behind will never be forgotten.

He concluded by saying that Dodo Mayana will be remembered for standing very tall as a symbol of brilliance and talent across Africa.

“Dodo Mayana’ will forever live in our hearts and minds. May his Soul Rest in Peace.

As Nigeria grapples with the loss of one of its most cherished sporting icons, his legacy stands tall as a symbol of excellence, pride, and unity for both Nigeria and Africa,” he added.
