Police Withdraw Security from Lagos Speaker, Assembly Complex

The the police have withdrawn all security personnel assigned to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, as well as those guarding the Assembly complex, leaving both the Speaker and the legislative building without protection.

Confirming the development, the Speaker’s Special Adviser on Information, Mr. Victor Ganzallo, expressed concern over the abrupt withdrawal, stating that the Speaker has been left “vulnerable and open to attack.”

“As we speak, all security has been withdrawn from the Speaker, and she is now on her own,” Ganzallo said.

The reason behind the sudden withdrawal remains unclear, as neither the Lagos State Police Command nor the state government has issued an official statement regarding the matter.

The unexpected security lapse has sparked concerns over the safety of government officials and the potential risks facing the legislative institution.

Observers worry that the absence of security personnel could expose the Speaker and lawmakers to threats, especially at a time of increasing political tensions in the state.

As of now, there are calls for an immediate resolution to the situation to ensure the safety of Speaker Meranda and the Lagos Assembly
