Why there is fuel scarcity in Lagos, Abuja – NNPCL

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has explained why there is serious fuel scarcity in Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPCL, in a statement on the company’s X handle on Saturday, said the scarcity was as a result of a hitch in the discharge operations of a couple of vessels.

Soneye said the company is working round the clock with all stakeholders to resolve the situation and restore normalcy in the operations.

The statement reads: “The NNPC Ltd. wishes to state that the tightness in fuel supply and distribution witnessed in some parts of Lagos and the FCT is as a result of a hitch in the discharge operations of a couple of vessels.”

The Company further stated that it is working round the clock with all stakeholders to resolve the situation and restore normalcy in the operations.

There has been excruciating fuel scarcity in Lagos which has crippled commercial activities, with fuel prices shooting up astronomically.

Thousands of Lagosians are seen swamping into filling stations to buy fuel, spending almost a whole day to purchase fuel.
