Dangote Refinery To Sell Petrol Exclusively To NNPCL — FG

The Presidential Committee on the Sale of Crude Oil and Refined Products has announced that the Dangote Refinery will sell Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, exclusively to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and a committee member, revealed this on Friday in Abuja. He confirmed that the first batch of petrol from the Dangote Refinery would be loaded on Sunday, September 15, 2024, and from October 1, NNPCL will begin supplying crude oil to the refinery, with payments in naira. In return, Dangote Refinery will provide petrol and diesel of equal value for the domestic market, also paid for in naira.

“For now, PMS will only be sold to NNPC, which will distribute it to other marketers,” Adedeji explained. His statement was later confirmed by Finance Minister Wale Edun, who added that interested marketers must purchase the fuel from NNPCL.

This arrangement, however, contradicts a recent claim by NNPCL that it would not act as the sole distributor of petrol from the Dangote Refinery.
