The Nigerian and Belgian governments have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening existing economic ties and exploring new opportunities for collaboration, with a particular focus on agriculture and food security.

This was the key topic of discussion during a recent meeting between Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Pieter Leenknegt.

In a statement issued by the Director of Information in the Ministry, Mohammed Manga, it was revealed that the meeting centered around enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations, with a view to creating new trade opportunities, attracting investment, and deepening economic ties.

During the diplomatic talk, Wale Edun, highlighted Nigeria’s improving economic landscape, pointing to declining inflation, stabilizing prices, and increased savings in the federation account.

Despite initial challenges, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s macroeconomic reforms are already yielding positive results.

The Minister also reiterated the government’s dedication to supporting farmers through favorable policies that boost agricultural productivity.

According to Ambassador Pieter Leenknegt, this commitment aligns with Belgium’s interest in deepening economic relations.

With both Nigeria and Belgium pledging continued collaboration for mutual benefit, this meeting signifies a crucial step in strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
