Garba Shehu’s Confession Proves FG Doesn’t Respect The Right Of Nigerians To Ask Questions – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has reacted to Garba Shehu saying that the widely reported villa rat invasion incident during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s prolonged medical leave was a distraction.

The group recently revealed that Garba’s comment proves that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was right to express concern about the transparency of information shared with Nigerians when Buhari was in power.

Speaking via a press statement, IPOB spokesperson, Comrade Emma Powerful, said that the confession aligns with Nnamdi Kanu’s reservations regarding government communication during Buhari’s time away from office.

According to him, IPOB has always maintained that the Federal Government must be open about the health of availability of Nigerian leaders, and the statement simply affirmed the importance of accountability and transparency in governance.

He emphasised the need for responsible leadership and respect for the right of citizens to ask questions about their governance.

“This development supports our earlier calls for more openness about the health and availability of those in leadership. Our leader had expressed concern about these issues, and now some of those concerns appear to be acknowledged, even if belatedly,” he said.

While blasting the initial handling of PMB’s medical leave and the explanations given to Nigerians, IPOB urged Nigerians to reflect on the importance of public trust and access to accurate information in a democratic society.

IPOB concluded by reiterating its commitment to peaceful advocacy and dialogue, stressing that it remains committed to its cause in accordance with international legal frameworks and the principles of human rights.
