Ladies In Trouble For Smashing Head Of Electricity Staff Over Power Disconnection

2 ladies, Adunola Ademiran, 26 and Ayomide Kazeem, 27, have landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly smashing the head of a staff of the Eko Electric Distribution Company (EKEDC), Bamidele Clement, over power disconnection in their area.

AKNN reports that the duo has been arrested and charged for conspiracy and assault under the Criminal Laws of the State.

The incident happened at Ogboyo Street, Jakande, Agidingbi, Ojo area of Lagos, where the victim, Clement, went to perform his official duty by disconnecting electricity supply of those owing outstanding bills.

The victim was said to have refused to listen to the residents present, who were complaining over the outrageous estimated bills, which made them unable to pay.

According to the Police, while Clement was performing his lawful duty of disconnecting electricity supply of the residents over unpaid bills, he had altercation with some of the residents. And in the process, the suspects and others at large attacked and injured him in the process.


Apart from breaking his head with a broken bottle, which caused serious injury on him, they as well reportedly damaged his phone in the process while the alleged assault was reported to the Police at Ilembe Hausa Division.

Thus, the ladies were arrested and charged before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
However, they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.M. Alade, granted them bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 1st August, 2024 for mention.
