Lagos to Reopen 3rd Mainland Bridge

The Third Mainland Bridge will be totally re-opened to traffic in the next seven days.

Minister of Works, Engineer David Umahi confirmed this today while leading members of the National Assembly joint committee on Works on a tour of projects in Lagos as part of their oversight functions.

Engineer Umahi said engineering and technical works on the Bridge have been concluded while lane markings and other minor works are still ongoing.

Rehabilitation works started in November 2023 focusing on fixing the ramps, and some repairs of the bridge, including the under deck and sub water sections.

The Third Mainland bridge was then closed to traffic in January 2024 as work commenced on the deck with the scope of work including complete removal and replacement of asphalt
on both inbound and outbound Lagos Island sections to make motoring smoother and safer on the bridge.
