In a renewed effort towards its preparation for the upcoming party congresses, the Ogun chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday 29th june, 2024 formally received the Yewa South State constituency Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 general elections, Hon. Jacob Rotimi Ogundele also known as Political Solution who led over 5000 defectors from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Ogundele and several other defectors were received to the PDP on behalf of the National Chairman of the party, Amb. Umar Damagum and the state chairman, Hon (Dr) Sikirulahi Ogundele by the State Deputy Chairman, Hon. Kayode Bamgbose, who represented the state chairman at the special ward meeting held at the PDP ward secretariat, Oke Odan, Yewa South Local Government.
In his remarks at the meeting, Hon Bamgbose assured party members and leaders that the PDP is leaving no stone unturned and not ready to take anything for granted as the party is ever determined to rescue Ogun state from the needless excruciating pains and agonies of misrule that the APC has plunged the state into.
The event which witnessed party faithful from all the nocks and crannies of Yewa South Local Government, in attendance were notable PDP leaders which included the party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, Hon Oladipupo Adebutu, PDP Senatorial Chair, Elder Sunday Soledolu, a former Executive Chairman, Yewa South LG, Alh. Adewale Sumola, Dr. Sunday Solarin, Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole, Ogun PDP Publicity Secretary and many other party chiefs across Ogun state.
Hon Adebutu, who joined the overwhelming crowd, welcomed the new members to PDP and urged the existing PDP structure and organs to accommodate as well harmonize the new members for the ultimate purpose of joining forces to dislodge the ruling APC from Oke Mosan come 2027.
In his words, while receiving the PDP flag from the state Deputy Chairman, Political Solution, promised, on behalf of all new members, to be loyal, committed and dedicated to the ideals and interests of the party. He promised to work in harmony with the party structure and its organs to ensure the general wellbeing, progress, and development of the PDP in Yewa South LG and Ogun state by extension.
