Ahead of the August 16 bye-election, a former Director of Contact and Mobilization for ABOCO in the 2023 general elections, Hassan Seriki, has called on residents of Remo to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process.
Speaking while addressing members of the Remo Parliament, Seriki stressed that a peaceful election is pivotal to the region’s social and political development, noting that democracy thrives when electorates are allowed to freely choose their representatives.
“This is what the PDP believes in and will uphold in the coming bye-election,” Seriki said, adding that the ugly incidents witnessed during the last poll, including ballot snatching, burning of materials, and multiple thumb-printing allegedly perpetrated by the APC would no longer be tolerated.
He further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain impartial and called on the people of Remo to take responsibility for safeguarding ballot boxes.
“All efforts must be made to prevent a repeat of electoral malpractice,” he warned. “We are confident that Hon. Bola Oluwole is the choice of the people competent, capable, and experienced for the position.”
Seriki concluded by wishing the people of Remo a successful and hitch-free election.
