Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has presented a staff of office to Oba Egbeyemi Oladimeji, the newly appointed Ologba of Ogba, located in the Agege Local Government Area, in a historic event marking the end of a decade-long vacancy, Afrika Konnekt News Network reports.
The significant occasion was attended by a host of dignitaries and community leaders. Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Mobolaji Robert, hailed the event as a landmark moment for the community. He expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Oba Egbeyemi Oladimeji, stating, “I rejoice with Kabiyesi and the people of this community most warmly and heartily. This is a day of joy and truly worthy of celebration. It is my hope that Kabiyesi will bring his abundant wealth of experience, exposure, and talent to bear in the discharge of his traditional duties.”
Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of maintaining the dignity of the throne and encouraged the new traditional ruler to foster harmonious relationships with other traditional leaders and promote peaceful coexistence with neighboring communities. “The Ogba community belongs to all, and unity is essential to protecting our shared heritage,” he remarked.
Chief Ganiyu Egunjobi, Chairman of Agege Local Government, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the significance of the day. He noted that Oba Egbeyemi is the third ruler to ascend the throne as Ologba of Ogba, following the reigns of Oba Suberu Ashade and Oba Ibrahim Sanni Ashade. He urged the community to honor the memory of the late rulers.
In his address to the new Ologba, Egunjobi advised, “Your Royal Highness, my advice to you is to see your enthronement as a favor from God, and not an individual, because all powers belong to the Almighty.”
The enthronement of Oba Egbeyemi Oladimeji marks a new chapter for the Ogba community, promising growth and stability under his leadership.
